travel europe croatia dubrovnik walking the wall

The bulk of Dubrovnik's wall were built durring the 14th and 15th centuries but were improved well into the 17th century.
When it comes to walking the old city walls, they are divided into two sections and have one-way, counter-clockwise, pedestrian traffic.
They are quite crowded, but a great way to orient yourself to the city and its surrounds.
The waterside wall is accessed from a steep staircase just to the left of the western gates where most tourits enter old town.
Tickets are purchased from vendors window to the right as you enter from the west.
When you have walked the south wall around to the harbor on the east, there is another entry and ticket taker.
It was not clear if this was a separate charge or just another access.
The vendor was so busy that we just continued on around the harbor to another exit on the north side of the harbor.
We didn't walk the landside, higher, wall, but decided to wander through the city instead.
